Because there is no atlas that deals with the topic of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and in order to continue and complete the work that the writer, Sami Ibn Abdullah Ibn Ahmad Al-Maglouth, began more than a decade ago, compiling and designing historical atlases that discuss the lives of the Prophets and Messengers, he felt that it was incumbent upon him to contribute a work that highlights their history, by producing a historical atlas that covers their era and their biographies.
Before starting this work, He sought the help of Allah, then he rolled up his sleeves and got to work, seeking the honour of writing about them.
When he immersed himself in the study of their history and achievements, he found it difficult to document all their achievements in a single book, because their legacy in Jihad is something that a group of people would be hard pressed to compile in an extensive work. This made him decide to write about the achievements of each caliph on his own, in the hope of producing a comprehensive atlas covering the lives of all of them in the near future, in sha Allah, which would differ from the individual atlases for each of the caliphs, and in which he would be careful to shed further light on the era of each of them.
This Atlas is aimed at meeting a need in the field of Islamic books by producing maps that deal with one of the most important periods in human history. What made it easy to produce this book with such a high level of quality is the abundance of primary historical sources that he tried hard to translate into maps, illustrations and graphs. In terms of contemporary books, he benefitted greatly from the books of Ustadh Ahmad Adil Kamal, namely his series on the Islamic conquests, which stand out by virtue of his selection of sound reports and exclusion of weak reports, which gives his series an advantage over other historical works. He also made use of other sources and references, in which the writer found the material that he needed.
These sources are listed at the end of each chapter.
